

Patsy Cannon Lawrence, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on August 7th, 2025. Memorial Services will be held at 3 pm Sunday, August 10th, at Skyland Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1:30 pm. Reverend Jon Wiggins will be officiating. Graveside service will be held on Monday, August 11th, at 10:30am at Fayette City Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Levert Lawrence, son David Lawrence, parents Truman and Lottie Cannon, and brother Buddy Cannon.
She is survived by her son, Russell Lawrence (Missy), her three beloved grandchildren, Russ Lawrence (Caitlin) of Orange Beach, Luke Lawrence (Rachel) of Tuscaloosa, and Audrey Lawrence of Hoover, and her adored great grandchildren, Carson, Logan, and Case Lawrence. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Taylor, sister-in-law, Dorothy Cannon and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was born in Fayette, Alabama and she graduated from Fayette County High School. After high school, she worked for the City of Fayette for several years until she and Levert decided to move to Tuscaloosa.
Once in Tuscaloosa, she became a member of Skyland Baptist Church, where she remained a member for over 53 years. She showed her commitment to the Lord by her service to others by visiting with shut ins and the sick, writing numerous cards, making many meals and baking many desserts.
She volunteered for DCH in the Cath Lab for over 25 years. She adored the staff, providers, patients and their families. One of her favorite things to do while volunteering was decorating for every holiday and season. She enjoyed making goodies for the staff and was known for having a candy stash at her desk for everyone to enjoy.
In her free time, she spent many hours at the Bobby Miller Center where she would partake in water aerobics and exercises. She loved shopping for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, eating with friends, and cooking for others.
When her grandchildren were young, she would keep them many afternoons after school where she enjoyed the time she got to spend with them. She never missed their after-school activities or their sporting events where you could hear her cheering loudly. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and her friends. For over 25 years, she and her family enjoyed the beach life at Gulf Shores.
She truly had a servant’s heart often putting other’s needs before her own. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and service.
Pallbearers will be Russ Lawrence, Luke Lawrence, Tim Taylor, Wilson Taylor, Keith Cannon, Skyler Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are her Skyland Baptist Church Family, Hillcrest Garden’s neighbors and friends, Staff and Clients of Lawrence, Hitt, and Pugh CPA’s, special caregivers; Rita Hendrix, Pat Pate, and Jerri Pearson along with Hospice of West Alabama, Staff at DCH Northport Rehab, DCH Cath Lab Staff, and all volunteers past and present of DCH Hospital.
