Richard E. Johns, age 72, of Cottondale, died Aug. 12, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Cottondale Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ray Herron officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The family requests casual dress. Visitation will be Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Johns; and his daughter, Donna Van Dooren.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Herron Johns; his son, Richard Lee "Rick" Johns; his daughters, Nikki Dodson, Billie Jean Trotman, and Linda Jackson; his sisters, Ella Dobbs and Mary Wagner; his brother, Encil Johns; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Herron, Tyler Ramsey, Brandon Ramsey, John Wright, and Adam Black.
