Robert was co-owner of Burroughs Construction Company in Tuscaloosa, and worked as a master carpenter for 42 years. Robert laughed easily and often. He was kind and compassionate, always ready to help even strangers in need. He truly was the salt of the earth. He loved all of his family deeply, but his grandchildren were his joy and his heart.
He lived his life to the fullest, pursuing a wide range of hobbies. He was an avid fisherman who only spun tall tales once in a while. He raced motorcycles and won, even if he had to "cheat'' (ha ha). He piloted his own hot air balloon, "The Toy". He moved on roller skates in ways that should only have been possible on ice. He was always up for an adventure as he traveled to places near and far. He appreciated the simple things in life. He loved to dance with his wife, and he loved watermelon nearly as much as his four-legged friends, Mork and Mindy.
He was a Superman to so many of us, but even heroes must rest at the end of a life well-lived. He will always be loved. He will always be missed. He will never be forgotten.
