Ruth Janice DelGaudio

Ruth Janice Harries Del Gaudio died on May 21, 2025 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Ruth was the daughter of Cecil Harries and Mabel Bayne Harries. She was born on November 18, 1928 in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Medford high School in Medford, MA. in 1947. She was the vice president of her class. Ruth's primary occupation was being Charles's partner. Later in life they worked side by side in their grocery stores. Ruth was a past president of the Winchester Toastmistresses Club. Ruth was active in both the Jacksonville, FL. and Tuscaloosa, AL. Newcomer's Clubs.

Ruth was an avid bridge player her whole life. Ruth loved to read and was an involved library patron of every city where she resided. Ruth was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was unwavering. Known for her optimism and joie de vivre Ruth shared her love of life with all she encountered.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Charles Peter Del Gaudio. She is survived by Daughters, Mary Chickering (Gary), Northport, AL. and Carmella Teague (David), Birmingham, AL.; son Joseph Del Gaudio, Tuscaloosa, AL.; Grandchildren, Zachary Chickering (Jessica Peters), Springfield, ME., Brooke Chickering (William L. Smith), Tuscaloosa, AL., Charles Teague (Rachel), Birmingham, AL. and Mary Teague, Huntsville, AL., Great-grandchildren, Carmen Smith and Asa Smith, both of Tuscaloosa, AL., and several nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

The Memorial Service will commence at 2:00 pm Tuesday May 27th at Heritage Chapel Memorial Funeral Home located at 5200 Old Birmingham Hwy, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404.
