He is preceded in death by his parents Houston and Elsie Owens; daughter Amy Owens; sister Virgina Porter; and brother-in-law Ronald Holmes. Sonny is survived by his daughter Carrie Mullins (Doug) ; Sisters Marilyn Howton (Bo) ; Frances Epperson (James) ; Mildred Holmes. Granddaughters Mallory Akins; Lindsey Akins; Grandson Zack Mullins and Great Grandson Amiri Brown.
Sonny owned his own construction business for almost 50 years. He was a die hard Alabama football fan and loved watching his favorite team play. In his spare time, he used to love fishing. A consistent part of his day was spent watching his favorite Western movies and Nascar racing. Anyone that knew him knew when giving the opportunity he would tell you a funny joke and offer you a piece of his favorite Wrigley’s Double Mint Gum. He will be truly missed by all his family and friends.
Services will be Thursday February 06, 2025 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 am -11 am followed by the service at 11 am. Burial will follow at Little Hope Cemetery in Brent, AL.
