

COTTONDALE – Stanley Dean Vines, age 83, passed away July 3, 2022 at his home in Tomball, Texas. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with burial following in Memory Hill Gardens. A private family visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Mr. Vines was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and sons, Steve and Scotty Vines.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Vines Thornton; sons, Richard Charles Vines and John Schumacher; brothers, John Vines and Tommy Vines; and grandchildren, Scotty Vines, Megan Atencio, Ashley Eason, Ben Vines, Ryan Thornton, Cora Linke, and Jacob Vines.
Stanley was born in Howell, Michigan in 1939. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 in the 30th Aviation Depot Squadron at Hunter Air Force Base in Georgia. Stanley served two tours in Japan and was honorably discharged from the Air Force Reserve in 1962. He served in the Savannah, Georgia Police Department as a Tactical Support Officer from 1962 to 1966 and was promoted and transferred to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. His experiences included raiding whiskey stills, private investigations, bomb school, and assignment to a special task force in Miami and he had the privilege of guarding six presidents. He retired in 1988 and travelled all over the US enjoying his days with his family, fishing and camping, classic cars and Harleys. His love was to ride his motorcycle across the country to Sturgis, travel in his motorhome, and enjoy his music. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Vines, Ben Vines, Ryan Thornton, Michael Eason, Jordan Linke, Jacob Vines, Jeremy Vines and Jack Atencio.
Honorary pallbearers are John Vines, Richard Vines, John Schumacher, Richard Dickinson, George Hanks, Larry Luckey, Kenne Walker Pete Murphy, George Barrows, Al Koffman, Barney Barnabie, Jimmy Swain, Mike Usher, and Tom Makin.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
