Services will be held at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 813 Briarwood Drive in Bessemer, Alabama on Friday, September 12, 2025. The family will accept visitors from 10:00-11:00. Celebration of life service begins at 11:00.
Born in Bessemer, Alabama on August 17, 1947 to Norman and Zillie Tramell, Tommie Sue graduated from Brookwood High School in 1965 and received an associate’s degree from Shelton State Community College in Child Development. She worked as a data entry clerk at Jim Walter Resources, owned Buttons & Bows Daycare in Brookwood, AL and was a travel agent at Adventure Travel.
Tommie Sue is preceded in death by her father, Norman Tramell, mother, Zillie Acker Tramell and brother Norman Tramell, Jr. (Pete). She is survived by her son, Gene Jones (Misty), daughter, Angie Sanders (Brent); grandchildren, Anna Jones, Alex Jones, Payton Sanders and Connor Sanders; sisters, Connie Tramell and Janice Rittberger (Ted); brothers, Gary Tramell (Donna), Keith Tramell (Kay) and Tim Tramell; 19 loving nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and extended family.
Tommie Sue was a generous soul who loved big and lived large. She was a world traveler and enjoyed hosting and showing hospitality to everyone including her many foreign exchange students from countries around the globe. Everyone was welcomed at Tommie Sue’s table. Tommie Sue lived life on her terms and nothing made her happier than fixing a big ole pot of the world’s best chicken and dumplings for her family to enjoy. She will be always be remembered as one of a kind.
