Vernon "Vern" Leroy Tucker

Vernon “Vern” Leroy Tucker passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 11:00 am at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Heritage Chapel from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. The Rev. Richard parker will officiate, with music provided by Judy Watkins and Don McPhail.

Vern was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Kenneth Tucker; mother, Elizabeth Green Tucker; brother, Joseph Edward Tucker; great-niece, Moragan Tucker. He is survived by his sister, Sondra Tucker Bowling; brothers, Lawrence Kenneth Tucker II; and Michael Patrick Tucker; nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews.

He was born on October 5, 1954. He was a Christian and a member of Forest Lake Baptist Church.

Vern graduated from Tuscaloosa High School Class of 1973 and the University of Alabama in 1978. He received a B.A. in Communications Broadcast and Film and held a General Radio Telephone Operator License. He was employed at T.V. stations in Muscle Shoals and Birmingham, followed by work at South Central Bell. He retired from The University of Alabama as a Supervisor in the Telecommunications Department.

Vern was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying Bama Football and other hobbies and interests. His family and lifelong friends, Jim Harrison and Jeff Robinson were very important to Vern.
