Wayne Roberts, age 75, of McCalla, Ala., passed away October 30, 2019 at home. Services will be 2 pm Monday, November 4, 2019 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Sherrill and Rev. Jimmy Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider, directing. Visitation will be prior to services Monday from 12:30 pm to 2 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sarah Roberts; and brothers, Marlon and Orville Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gale Roberts; daughters, Stacy Maharrey (Joey), and Kim Franklin (Johnny); son, Jeff Roberts (Elizabeth); and grandchildren, Justin Maharrey, Adam Maharrey, Emilie Franklin, Shelby Franklin, Carson Roberts, and Peyton Roberts.
Wayne served in the US Army for four years before becoming an underground coal miner, working for Drummond Company for more than 40 years. He was a member of Eastern Valley Baptist Church in Bessemer where he served as a deacon. Wayne enjoyed camping, fishing, and anything outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
