
William "Bill" Peeples, age 83, of Cottondale, died Oct. 25, 2010, at home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Myrtie Peeples; a sister, Lillian; and a brother, Pruit Peeples.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Francis Peeples; daughters, Deborah Redish (Dwight) and Lisa Straughn; a son, Randy Peeples; sisters, Linda Sue, Lilly Faye, and Shirley Dean; brothers, Stuart, Kenny, and Roger Peeples; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Peeples served in World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Honorary pallbearers are the Canyon Lake community, Amedisys Hospice, Dr. Fritz, Dr. Lopez, Dr. Martenson, Marshall Johnson, Elks Lodge, American Legion, VFW, and the Fleet Reserve Association.
