January 19, 1921 - July 3, 2017
Esther Anna Barnes has gone to be with her Lord and loved ones in Heaven on Monday, July 3, 2017.
She was born on January 19, 1921 to Louis Cord and Matilda Jagels Meyer in Clover, Idaho. She was the 3rd child of 7 children born to her parents.
Esther grew up in Clover and went to school there. She helped to take care of her Grandmother Jagels from the time she was 6 years old until she was 14 and graduated from the 8th grade. She then helped out on the family farm until she met and married.
She married Martin Wilhelm Lueders on February 12, 1939. During the marriage they farmed in Buhl, Eden and Kimberly. This marriage produced 6 children; Anna May, Glen Louis, Janice Louise, Karen Fay, Linda Kay and Judith Marie.
Esther and Martin divorced in 1959 and Esther moved to Twin Falls with the children. She worked at cleaning houses to take care of her children and to put herself through Nursing School. She graduated top of her class, earning the title, “Mrs. Inspiration”. After graduating nursing school, she worked at Magic Valley Hospital for 3 years. Dr. Pond was impressed with her nursing skills and asked her to work in his private practice, which she did for 20 years as his nurse.
In 1965 she married Ted Barnes. The family increased by the 3 children from Ted’s previous marriage. The children were Rick, Sharon, and Mike. Esther loved to go motorcycle riding with Ted and also the many fishing trips they took together. After Ted passed away she moved to Burley in 1996.
She enjoyed many hours working in her vegetable garden and her beautiful flower garden. After lengthy health problems, it required her to move into Highland Estates in October 2015. She resided there until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Barnes; parents, Louis and Matilda Meyer; sister, Beulah; brothers, Edwin and Martin; daughter, Judy and grandchildren, Travis Seegrist and Vince Smith.
