

Billy, a bail bondsman, was born on July 8, 1943 in New York, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Jacksonville. Following school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a nuclear bomber guard in Alaska during the Cold War. Following his military service, he worked and attended college, earning an associate degree in business from Tyler Junior College. In 1983, he married Judy Dotson and they made their home in Tyler. He worked at Beneficial before opening an automobile sales dealership. He later worked for White’s Tyler Ford, then for Nix Bail Bonds. He established his own business, Strike Three Bond Service and EZ Out Bail Bonds in 1992. He was also a Sixth-Degree Master Black Belt in tai kwan do, a physical fitness buff and enjoyed hunting and going to the boats.
He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Bobbitt in 2009; daughter, Billie Jane; and grandson, Michael Scholz, in 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Bobbitt of Tyler; sons, Gary Wayne Bobbitt of Tyler, Mike and his wife, Angie Dotson, of Winona; daughters, Sonja and her husband, Jason Collins, of Tyler, Karen and her husband, Gary Hisel, of Tyler, Joretta Chapman, of Tyler, Lisa Bobbitt, of Tyler, Susanne and her husband, Dwayne Hunt, of Winona; siblings, Bobby and his wife, Kathleen Bobbitt, of Wills Point, Ricky Bobbitt, of Tyler, Carolyn and her husband, John Richmond, of Tyler, Rita and her husband, Barry Boone, of Bullard, Margaret Ann Bobbitt, of Tyler,Terri and her husband Jim Birdd, of Tyler; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Tyler Memorial Funeral home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 also at the funeral home, with Brother Mike Daniels officiating.
Interment will follow inTyler Memorial Cemetery.
