

Bobbie Laverne Keith Houston, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025 at the age of 97, leaving behind a legacy of love, artistry, and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Della Keith, her sister Eugenia Elizabeth Keith, her devoted husband, Tony Houston, and her beloved grandson, Cooper Gibson.
Bobbie is survived by her treasured siblings Walliece Stephenson, Kathleen Parker and Gene Keith. She was the loving mother of Colleen Andrus and Lisa Gibson, and beloved mother-in-law to Vance Andrus and Jay Gibson. Her grandchildren, Ashley Leary, Lori Andrus, Shannon Andrus, Cameron Andrus, Caitlin Dean, and Coulter Gibson, were a source of immense pride and joy. She was also blessed to know the love of her many great-grandchildren: Amy Goggans, Vance William Hood, Houston Hood, Flannery Andrus-Lundy, James Andrus-Lundy, Avery Andrus-Lundy, Tristan Andrus, Gavin Andrus, Della Love Dean and Forrest Dean, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Jason Goggans.
Bobbie will be especially remembered for her talent and passion as an artist, in particular for her portraits and figure paintings. A graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Bobbie refined her artistic craft under the guidance of some of the most celebrated artists in the country. One of her paintings was honored in the prestigious Pastel Society of America's annual show. Bobbie was also recognized with several awards from the Degas Pastel Society, including receiving their highest accolade, the Exceptional Merit Award. Art was a constant joy throughout Bobbie's life, not only as an artist, but also as a teacher and enthusiast. She continued to create art until her final days.
She was born Bobbie Laverne Keith in Cotton Valley, LA on December 4, 1927. As a child, Bobbie moved to Carlisle, TX, and she graduated from Carlisle High School. As a young woman she moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, where she and Tony built a life together for 40 years before returning to Tyler, Texas, in 2000. In her later years, Bobbie resided in Castle Pines, Colorado. Her memory will live on through her art, her family, and the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of life for Bobbie will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery & Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, TX 75704. Following the celebration of life will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Serving as pallbearers are Cameron Andrus, Coulter Gibson, Jay Gibson, Keith Stephenson, Stephen Dean, Bobby Keith, Vance Andrus, Ken Stephenson, Gene Keith and Steve Croft.
