Lexie Mae Wood Mccarter, age 96, passed away on February 25, 2026 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on January 12, 1930 in Hemphill, Texas to Luther Leroy Wood and Eula Mae Felts Wood. Lexie was raised in Hemphill, Texas and graduated from high school in 1946 (age 16). She married Maurice (Mac) McCarter in 1947 and the couple had 2 children. She was a dedicated housewife, she said she “loved every minute of it!” In her spare time Lexie enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, taking care of the pets, talking, listening and movies. Her daughter and her were best friends. Her family will always remember her as a cute fun-loving teenager, and a wonderful wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Maurice McCarter; infant son; brothers, Boog, Dee and Mike and her parents Luther and Eula Wood. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.
