Bobby enlisted in the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served for 3 ½ years during WWII in the Pacific Island campaign which included Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian as a flamethrower operator and heavy equipment operator with the Second Marine Division. After returning home he married Betty and they moved to Tyler, where he worked in construction the business until he retired 30 years ago. He also served as the President of the Second Marine Division Association at both the state and national level.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, his son Bobby Jr. and his brother Billy. He is survived by his sons Craig (Pat) and Brixey (Anita), grandchildren, Ryan, Jordan, Katie (Aaron), Matt, Kim (Ryan), great granddaughter Sadie, and his sister Peggy.
A graveside service will be held at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home & Cemetery on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 2 PM.
