Bob Jr. was proceeded in death by his parents Robert Byron Sanford Sr. and Evelyn J. Sanford.
He is survived by the love of his life, Charlotte Chandler Sanford of 38 wonderful years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Yvonne Sanford of Scottsdale, Arizona and Mary Ellen and Frank Dungca with four grandchildren; Aren, Angel, Ari, Adelina of Milton, Florida. His sister Leanna Frnka, brother in law James Frnka, and niece Jolyn Frnka all from Carrollton, Texas. His nephew Byron and wife Taylor Miller with two great nieces of East Texas. His two cousins Judy Tarrant and Janie Roberts of Tyler, Texas.
Bob traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and different countries with his family while his dad served in the Air Force. In traveling, he attended nineteen different schools. He finished his last three years in San Angelo, Texas. Bob “Lefty” was known as an exceptional fast curveball pitcher causing a lot of no hitter games.
Bob met his bride to be Charlotte, a deputy constable, at the time while working on her car as an automotive mechanic at Courtesy Pontiac in Tyler, Texas. This is where their love story began.
He opened his own automotive shop in 1981. It was opened for 28 years on their property here in Tyler. Later on, Bob began to travel locally and out of state to teach automotive technology.
Bob was introduced to Jesus by his precious wife. He then obeyed the gospel of Christ and became a member of the Church of Christ.
Bob was full of life and involved in many organizations; Tyler Hamm Radio, Sky Warn (Past President), Tyler Bicycle Club (Past President), a member of Tyler Patriot Guard & Tyler Yacht Club. He was a part of ASE where he was a Certified Master Technician on cars and trucks. Last but not least he had a passion for helping young children while serving in Boy Scouts of America.
A past time of Bob’s was deer hunting and fishing. He loved to go camping with his wife. They started tent camping then proceeded to move into an RV. They traveled to National/State Parks in and out of Texas accompanied by their cute fur babies.
Pallbearers include Marvin Hollingsworth III, Marvin Hollingsworth Jr., Mark Taylor, Brad Shaw, Andrew Siler, Terry Gimble, John Newman, and Todd Fleischer.
Family and friends are encouraged to join and celebrate the beautiful life of Robert Byron Sanford Jr. this Thursday from 6-8pm at Tyler Memorial on Hwy 64 West (refreshments will be served). The funeral is set to take place at Tyler Memorial this Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00am.
