Ruben married his high school sweet heart and were married for 54 years. He moved to Tyler in 1969 and made it his home. Ruben retired from Trane after 25 years. He loved fishing, working on lawn mowers, and absolutely loved family gatherings. Ruben enjoyed being outside with his grandchildren and was always on his flip phone with family. He also enjoyed watching classic movies as well as boxing, listening to the oldies, and always telling jokes. Ruben was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Petra Salinas; mother in law, Isabel Garcia; son, Ruben Rene Salinas; brothers, Ernesto Salinas Junior, Armando Salinas, Raul Salinas, and Homero G. Salinas; and sisters, Esmeralda (Emy) Robert, Janie Thorpe, Consuelo Luera, and Libra “Lee” Amador.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rosario G. Salinas; sons, Jesus R. (Barbara) Salinas, Joey L. (Kimberly) Salinas; daughters, Barbara A. Salinas, Jaime K. Garza, Samantha R. (Arthur) Hernandez, Danielle E. (Jason) VanBuskirk (raised as a daughter); sister in law, Elsa Garcia; many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving siblings include Roque (Nellie) Salinas of Alice, Irma (Zeke) Abrigo of Alice, Linda (Rene) Munoz of Alice, Enrique (Sandra) Flores Jr.-cousin/brother.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. with rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Tyler Memorial Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas. Final visitations will be on December 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. following the gravesite service at 11:00 a.m. in the Tyler Memorial Cemtery.
