

Rufus Hinojosa, 46, of Wills Point, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2015 in Tyler. Rufus was born on December 3, 1968 in Lubbock. He grew up in Lubbock, graduating from Estacado High School in 1988; where he was also a wrestler.
Following high school he attended Phoenix Institute of Technology, graduating with an Associate Degree in Drafting and Design. He then attended American Commercial College in Lubbock.
He married Marcelina Balero at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Lubbock on September 17, 1988. They made their home in Lubbock where Rufus coached softball and basketball at Neil Wright Elementary and South Pines Girl’s Fast Pitch.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents and is survived by his wife, Marcelina Hinojosa of Wills Point; children, Belinda Velasquez of Lubbock, Joey Balero of Wills Point, Robert Hinojosa of Dallas, Melinda Pendleton of Wills Point, Celinda Hinojosa of Lubbock; a God son, Xavier Longoria of Lubbock; siblings, Mary Sanchez of Lubbock, Edward Hinojosa of Lubbock, Carmen Hinojosa of Tyler, Maye Badillo of Lubbock, 8 Grandboys and a Princess.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, May 11, 2015 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 Highway 64 West, Tyler. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Tuesday at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 423 S. Broadway, Tyler with Reverend George Dingus officiating.
Interment will follow at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
