Don is survived by his longtime partner Sue Bruening of Colchester, his son Donald A. and his wife Jeanna and granddaughter Christana Congdon of Stonington and his brother George Congdon of Montville. He was predeceased by his sister Diane Tyler.
Don was a long-time bridge inspector for the DOTs of several eastern states.
He was proud to be a 32nd degree Mason with Oxoboxo Lodge no. 116.
Don had many hobbies. He played pool for many years for Montville pool teams. He enjoyed riding his Harley. He played guitar in bands and played daily. He also was usually successful handicapping the Triple Crown Races. An avid hunter, clammer and fisherman. Don was known for his R.I. clam chowder and corn beef dinners in social clubs in the area. He was a faithful fan of the Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will held at a later date.
