Hazel Beetham Tanape

Hazel Beetham Tanape- of Alaska formerly of Uncasville died 3/17/17 in Alaska. She was born 2/19/68 in Uncasville daughter of the late John E. Beetham Jr. (Beetle) and Sheila M. Beetham (Coffey) and was raised there. Hazel graduated from Montville High School in 1986. She was employed for 12 years at Greentree Manor before moving to Alaska and settling in the small village of Nanwalek. There she married her husband Joe from Alaska and raised 2 daughters Annie-Marie and Becca. In her earlier years Hazel could always be found at the Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday nights cheering on her brother who raced at the track. She was very caring and kindhearted and loved her family very much. While in Alaska she developed a love for cooking and one of her specialty dishes was seal. Hazel loved playing Bingo and going to the casino. Her daughters meant the world to her and spent a lot of time teaching them to cook, did arts and crafts with them, read and played with them. She was a friend to all. She is survived by her husband Joe G. Tanape, her daughters Annie-Marie, and Rebecca Dawn, her brothers John Neeley and John E. Beetham III and her sister in law Lisa Beetham. She also leaves her nephews Matthew Neeley, Joshua Neeley, and John (Jack) E. Beetham IV, she enjoyed her time she spent with her nephews. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Memorial visitation will be Saturday April 1, 2017 from 2:00-3:00pm at the Montville Funeral Home of Church Rte 32 Uncasville.
