She was born to Arthur and Ivah Gaylord on January 12th, 1935, her father’s birthday. Kay, the youngest of four children, was raised on her parents dairy farm, the Silver Dome, in E. Randolf Vt.
She graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre Vt and also attended Castleton College in Castleton Vt.
On April 18th, 1954, she married C. Alan Bigelow of White River Junction, Vt. He predeceased her on March 6, 2014, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they raised four children all of whom survive her. Steve Bigelow and his wife Dawn, Cristi Biddlecome, Terry Tatum and her husband Charlie, P. Jay Bigelow and his wife Jean.
Side by side the family of six made many moves during Alan’s thirty years in the navy. During those years Kay and Alan welcomed everybody and anybody into their home. You never knew who was going to be across from you at the dinner table, especially during the holidays.
In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Jamie, Shelby, Danny, Joel, Giana, Aimee, Nicolette, Shelly, Angela, Chad, and Kim, eleven great grandchildren, sister-in-law Nirav Bigelow and her son Vivic.
Kay was predeceased by her parents and brothers Bruce Gaylord, Colin Gaylord, and sister Madine Girelli, her brother-in-law Bruce Bigelow, and her son-in-law Jesse Biddlecome.
Kay’s family would like to thank Dr. Brito, Dr. Haldas and his nurse, Kristin, Smilow Cancer Center, L&M hospital, and the very caring staff at Fairview Nursing Home, especially her aide, Doris.
