Michael S. Franck, 73 of Uncasville, passed away Saturday, June 9,2023, at the William W. Backus Hospital with his family by his side. Michael was born in Hartford,Connecticut, November 15, 1949, he was the youngest son of the late Stuart Franck and Helen (Varga) Queiroga.
Michael started off his career as a film editor for over 23 years at the Gale group and Craftsman Litho. Michael viewed incoming film, taught plate making and worked in the plateroom on occasion. After 23 years, Michael decided to utilize his extensive people skills and love for gaming and became a dealer at the Fox Woods casino, where he was able to retire after 16 years. Michaels love for baseball allowed him to donate his time and become a baseball Umpire for many local schools in the Waterbury area. While a part of the school community, Michael also became a School bus driver for New Haven school district, he adored the kids and was well liked.
“ Hey Der” Michael was stubborn but a loving kid at heart. Gaming, sports and adventure were a part of his life from the beginning to the end. One of Mike’s biggest passions was being a part of the American Coaster Enthusiast (ACE). Mike passionately documented each and every coaster that he rode. His all time favorite coaster was the wooden coaster in Michigan. There wasn't a baseball, football or golfing match that Mike would miss, if plans were made for the day. you better believe Mike had already planned on the time he needed to get home to watch his favorite sports teams. Mike’s adventurous spirit brought him to many live concerts and shows, he had an eclectic taste in all genres of music, many of his friends and family members were able to join along and enjoy these shows with him. He enjoyed his retirement with sports, concerts and going down to his favorite machine at the casino. When the machine treated him well, he would call friends and family to play the sounds of the bells and music playing in the background, full of excitement and joy. Michael also took a memorable trip to Alaska after retirement and fulfilled one of his big wishes.
His greatest love was his dog Jeter. The bond that they shared will be forever. Mike would take Jeter everywhere with him, especially on Sundays so that all of his dearest friends at church could see her and give her treats. Jeter has a special place in many hearts.
