Barbara Kisner Spital, age 88, of Kenilworth, NJ, passed away peacefully at Trintas Medical Center Elizabeth, NJ, on Saturday March 31, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield 210 Morris Avenue corner of Church Mall Springfield, NJ, on Friday April 6, 2018 at 11 AM. The family will receive their friends at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue Union, NJ; on Thursday April 5, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Barbara was born and raised in Union, NJ. She worked in the credit department of both Gertz Department Store in Elizabeth, NJ and Bristol-Myers in Hillside, NJ. She was also a library clerk at Harding Elementary School in Kenilworth, NJ. Barbara was an active volunteer with the Parkinson Society for several years doing secretarial duties and at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ selling 50/50 raffle tickets. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Springfield. Barbara was Queen of the “Red Hat Mommas”, a Red Hat Ladies group. Barbara served for over 20 years as a member of the Trinitas Regional Medical Center auxiliary, where she chaired many events; fashion shows, theatre bus trips to Manhattan. She served on the Board of Trustees. In 2016 Barbara and her husband Frank were named Volunteers of the Year. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years Frank Spital, her devoted children Leslie and her husband Greg Riccie and Thomas Spital and his wife Amber, and her loving grandsons Jonathan Riccie, Jeremy and his wife Rebecca Riccie and Knight Spital.
