Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Debra was raised in Hillside and later made her home in Union. She lived a life full of connection, laughter, and deep love for the people around her.
Debra was known for her talkative nature and her incredible ability to make friends with anyone she met. She had a strong spirit, a heart of gold, and a sense of humor that could brighten any room. She loved spending time with her family and friends, watching her favorite sitcoms, shopping, and making memories with her beloved boyfriend, Gene. Together, they enjoyed weekend trips to flea markets and visits with friends, often accompanied by their cherished dog, Strawberry—moments that brought her endless joy and laughter.
Above all, Debra was a devoted mother to her daughter, Krista, whom she welcomed in November 1997. She took great pride in being a mother, always striving to give her daughter everything she needed and more. She lived by the belief that a mother’s job is never done—a reflection of the unconditional love and dedication she gave every single day. Whether it was sharing long conversations during their Dunkin’ runs or simply being there to listen, Debra was always a source of comfort, support, and understanding.
Debra is survived by her loving daughter, Krista; her boyfriend, Gene; her best friend, Dorthy; and her cousins, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Kathaleen Brooks and Albert Vincent Brooks, as well as her beloved dogs, Pixie and Strawberry.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at McCracken Funeral Home on Monday at 4:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at McCracken Funeral Home, followed by burial at Graceland Memorial Park.

Debra’s warmth, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
