Beloved wife of Walter Smith. Loving mother of Darryl Soifersmith and his wife Elyse. Adoring grandmother of Hannah and Hudson Soifersmith. Dear sister of Marcella Hosonitz, Mary McNamara, Bill McNamara, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Kathleen Sherman, and Elizabeth McNamara. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Gertrude will be remembered as a faithful companion to her husband Walter and a devoted mother and grandmother.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 3rd from 3-7 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave.,Union. A funeral mass will take place on Monday, January 4th at 10:30 AM at St. James the Apostle, Springfield, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flower donations are to be made in Gertrude’s memory to the Saint Jude’s Children Hospital.
