

Jeremy John Strucke Fisherman in Alaska who appeared on 'Deadliest Catch,' grew up in Somerset, 42 Jeremy John Strucke passed away Jan. 4, 2015, in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, N.J. 07083. Viewing is from 1 to 5 p.m. with service immediately following. Born in New Brunswick, N.J., on Feb. 25, 1973, Jeremy was raised in Somerset, N.J., and Somerville, N.J., where he was a successful manager of the Green Knoll Grill in Bridgewater, N.J. He moved to Alaska and worked in various areas of the fishing industry, including as engineer, skip captain and as a professional fisherman in the Bering Sea, where he was televised on the hit show, "Deadliest Catch." He always dreamed of being captain of his own ship. He fished in Gloucester, Mass., for a time and then moved to Florida with Kazusa, his devoted and loving wife of 13 years, and his adored daughter, Kaila. Jeremy touched many lives and had many talents. His outgoing personality, charisma, and phenomenal stage presence were demonstrated at a very early age when he wrote and directed his 6th grade school play. He then studied acting in Manhattan under Michael Moriarty and subsequently performed in various plays. Jeremy was an outstanding chef and also dreamed of owning his own restaurant. He loved to travel, loved the outdoors and had a great love for animals. But Jeremy's biggest love of all was for his daughter Kaila and wife Kazusa. Jeremy was predeceased by his daughter, Kaila; his grandparents, Edith and Dewain S. Downes, and his aunt, Ruth Leggett. Surviving him are his loving and devoted wife of 13 years, Kazusa Nishimoto Strucke; his mother, Meredith Downes; his brother, John Strucke; his niece, Vera Strucke; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
