

Letty was born in Manila, Philippines on September 17, 1924. Her father, Florencio Unson, was an engineer at the Manila Railroad Company. Her mother, Leonor Dizon Unson, practiced as a pharmacist. Letty was a piano teacher after graduating with a Teacher’s Diploma in Piano at the College of the Holy Spirit (formerly Holy Ghost College) in 1947. A devoted mother raising eight children, she was also beloved by her siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a kind, loyal and humble friend to her schoolmates with whom she maintained close contact while raising a growing family. Her retired life in the United States focused on her passion for music and her devotion to church activities. She resumed playing the piano, attended cultural events in New York City that included piano recitals, concerts, ballet and opera. Her daily life consisted of attending Mass each day as well as playing the organ during the weekly novena.
She leaves behind her younger sister Rosie, her adoring children (Marile, Marcia, Louie, Victor, Vida and husband David, Annette, Petty), grandchildren (Noe, Richie, Ryan and wife Jymnah, Patricia and husband Romeo, Anna and husband Ryan) and great grandchildren (Jose, Samuel and Johann). She was predeceased by her husband Jorge, son JB and daughter Leni.
A visitation for Letty will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. A funeral service and mass will occur Saturday, March 15, 2025 (11:00 am) at the Immaculate Conception Church, 417 Union Ave, Elizabeth, NJ 07208. Following the funeral mass, a private cremation will be held for the immediate family.
