Margaret Ambacher

January 16th 1942 - January 21st 2026

Peg Ambacher was born in Newark, NJ to her late parents Margaret Lawless (nee Watts) and Thomas Lawless. She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Valley HS and a retiree from the State of New Jersey, where she was a Principal Clerk Stenographer for the judiciary in Essex County.

In 1961, Peg married her soulmate, Al and together they lived a life of love, laughter, family and friends. Peg and Al lived initially in Vailsburg and while there they welcomed three children, Bill, Donna and Tim, before moving to Union and residing there from 1972 until her passing.

Peg enjoyed travelling and vacation with her friends and family, everywhere from Ireland to Alaska and Hawaii. She made each Holiday season a magical time, especially Christmas Eve at the house in Union and her New Year's Day Sauerbraten dinners will forever be legendary. Although she had been slowed in recent years by the relentless advance of time, she never lost her quick wit or love of a good glass of Pinot Grigio. She may also have been the Hallmark channel's biggest fan. Peg now rejoins Al after a 3 year wait, as well as her son Tim, who passed in 2025.

Peg is survived by her son Bill and his wife Linda of Chandler, Arizona, daughter Donna of Union, as well as her brother Michael Lawless and his wife Elaine of Old Bridge as well as sister Kathy Grippardi and husband Frank of Piscataway. She was predeceased by her brother Tom and sister Joan.

Peg will be fondly remembered as Gigi to her Grandchildren, Jocelyn and her husband (Ken) Hutton of Clark, Ryan Ambacher and his wife Carolyn of Chandler, Arizona, Brittany Buchanan and her fiance Joe Giambusso of Branchburg, Lauren Kingston and her husband Sam of Colgate, Oklahoma.

Peg also leaves her 4 great- grandchildren with the fondest of memories, Jacob and Shawn Hutton as well as Shane and Taron Ambacher.

Per Peg's request, services and burial will be private.
