Marie Bellon

Marie Bellon, of Bloomsbury, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2017. Born on July 22, 1926 in Newark, NJ, Marie was the daughter of Felix Caruso and Maria Vincenza LaRossa. Her devoted husband, Henry, predeceased her in 1993 along with a brother Lawrence Caruso in 1992 and a brother-in-law, Joseph Dudajek in 1991.During World War II, Marie worked for the war effort making cable and ammunition. She also taught sewing both at vocational schools and the Singer Sewing Machine Company. While working for other companies in the garment industry, Marie specialized in machine work creating intricate embroidery and lace. She also worked alongside her husband, Henry, at Garden State Florist, a business owned by the Bellon family.

A devoted wife and loving mother, Marie resided in Springfield, NJ for 64 years, where she and Henry raised their two sons, Lawrence “Butch” and Phillip.

In addition to sewing, Marie enjoyed crocheting, crafting and playing Scrabble. She earned the nickname “McGyver” from her grandchildren because her willingness to tackle any project from wallpapering to home repairs. Sharing a passion for travelling, she and Henry travelled many times to California and Hawaii, two of their favorite destinations however, her fondest memories were of the trips she and Henry took in their motorhome. Surviving are her two sons, Lawrence “Butch” and his wife, Ruth-Ann and Phillip and wife, Rhonda; six grandchildren, Stacy Giovanniello and her husband, Jeff; Larry Bellon; Bryan Bellon and his wife, Jennifer; Jeff Bellon; Erica Noonan and her husband, Francis “Chip”; David Bellon and his wife, Lorraine; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Dudajek; a sister-in-law, Bernadine Caruso, and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 4th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ, 07083. A brief funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 5th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park also in Union.
