Muriel Audrey Santiago (nee Siebert) age 87, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, formerly of Keansburg, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2014. A service will be held at McCracken Funeral Home 1500 Morris Avenue Union, NJ, on Saturday July 12, 2014 at 9 AM. Interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park Union, NJ. The family will receive their friends on Friday July 11, 2014 from 5-8 PM. Born October 11 1926 in Newark, NJ to a German Irish family. She married the love of her life "Ito" in 1963 and shared a beautiful life for over 50 years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time with family and watching movies. Her attire, jewelry, hair and nails were always impeccable. Although known for always being dolled up she will always be remembered for her sharp wittiness, her sense of humor and ability to say exactly what she thought! She was determined and strong. The night she met Ito she said "that's the man I am going to marry" and that's exactly what she did. She had a knack for telling stories and sharing beautiful memories with all of us. She may have spent the last years of her life in the South, but she always stayed a true New Jersey girl. Muriel was predeceased by her son, Kevin Santiago, her parents Edward and Helen Siebert, sister Helen Stanziale and daughter-in-law Patty Siebert. She is survived by her husband Jack “Ito” Santiago, son Edward A. Siebert, grandchildren Dawn (Donald) Macelroy and Donna (Ray) Delia, great-grandchildren D.J. and Kevin Macelroy and Julianna and Jake Delia, cousins Doreen Digiacomo and Jean MacArthy, nephew Mark Stanziale and niece Michelle Corcione, and her beloved dog Rusty.
