Sylvia B. Saporito

Sylvia was the Director of CYO Camp Tegakwitha in Lake Hopatcong, NJ., helping to shape thousands of young lives with a sense of purpose, fun and faith. She was a long time resident of Elizabeth, and a prolific writer including poetry, and books about her family. Her many newsy letters to family and friends are cherished to this day. They showered recipients across generations and around the globe with boundless love and joy, steadfast encouragement, and the faith that defined everything in her life. Beloved wife of Anthony Saporito for 69 years. Loving mother of Cynthia Saporito and Cheryl Maloney. Revered Matriarch of the clan, frequently known to burst into vocal renditions of “God Bless America.”.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 1096 North Ave., Elizabeth, NJ on Wednesday, October 5th at 10am. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 4th from 1-4PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union, NJ.
