Dear Beverly & Kenton,
We were saddened to hear that Aunt Alice had passed away.  Unfortunately, we only had a couple of visits with Aunt Alice in Upland, but we always stayed in touch especially at Christmas.  She was always warm and welcoming, and we will miss her.
May your many wonderful memories comfort you in the days ahead.

What a touching memorial to your beloved Mom.  As Alice's niece, I have so many memories of Auntie Alice, Uncle Garland, Beverly and Kent. I remember the summers when the Rogers family would drive to Edmonton and Bonneville to spend time with the family.  I remember playing with Beverly,who is only a few months older than my sister Gail, and Kent.  There were so many of us cousins who were close in age who played together.  I remember Auntie Alice being full of life and Uncle Garland as being kind and patient with all of us as he did all the driving.  Later in the 70's I remember visiting with Auntie Alice, Beverly & Kent on my way home from my year in Australia.  Auntie took me everyone and I remember Beverly's love of horses and going to a party with Beverly to meet some of her friends who had come back from the war in Viet Nam.  In the 80's & 90's Auntie Alice would still come to visit her family in Canada, with many of us cousins now married with children and living in Calgary and Vancouver.  I particularly remember driving with Auntie Alice and my sister Gail from Calgary to Vancouver.  We made many several stops along the way, shared many laughs as Auntie Alice entertained us with all her cruising stories. As Auntie Alice became older and couldn't travel anymore my Mom, Rita, and I kept in touch with her by phone.    My last conversation with Auntie Alice was in April of this year and she was so happy to be living with Beverly and spending time with Kent.  In closing I want to say "Thanks for the memories Auntie Alice, you will not be forgotten. You are now at peace with your beloved Garland and all your siblings. God Bless."

Thank you for who you were in your life that has your daughter show up like she does in our lives.

Dearest Beverly; this memorial is such a loving tribute to your mom...I can see where your beauty came from.  Alice lives forever in your heart and the grieving process, though painful and lifelong, it does become a part of life and your mom's way of keeping in touch with you from out there in the universe.

I will miss Alice in many ways. My yearly visits to her when I am in California.  Trips to Black Angus, her favorite restaurant and Coco's.  Sharing stories and photos of her many cruises and the people she met. She certainly was well traveled and now she has made her final journey and it will be very strange not to have her around. I do however have some special memories of her.

I will miss Alice, she was a fun loving lovely friend.

My prayers are with you both, Kent and Beverly, as you journey through this time of change in your lives.  Alice will live on in your memory and in those wonderful memories she helped create for all those whose lives she touched.

We have been Alice's next door neighbors for the past 23 years.  She was always very loving and welcoming to us.  Of course during those decades, she had many workers at her house doing various projects, from plumbing to roofing, to gardening and so on.  But she understood their jobs better than they did.  And she would tell me exactly where they went wrong.  She would notice that the little block wall they built was not even, or that they did such and such to save materials.  When we had our roof done, she watched the workers carefully and later told me they did a good job.  She described exactly in what ways they did it right and in what ways they could have done it wrong.  I was awed by her knowledge of construction, plumbing, everything!  

She loved her home town and her upbringing.  She loved her Canadian family and she adored Beverly and Kent.  She worried about them, but was always proud of the decisions they made and how hard they worked.  

She told me the stories of the old days on Francis Ave.  She used to open up her swimming pool for the neighbor kids to come and swim.  But being the planner and organizer, she had a flag that she would put out to indicate that this was a good time to come and swim. 

When I think of Alice, I feel proud that I got to live on the street where she lived.

Beverly, thank you for including me in Alice's life.   Reading her biography was quite touching and I'm wondering if she wrote it herself because it is so definitive.   I'll always remember your mom as ready to sit up and talk with the rest of us, full of life, love and laughter.   I will miss her very much.   Maybe in our next lifetime the three of us will go on that cruise we had talked about but never found the time in this lifetime.   With love, Debbie

My sympathies to Kent and Beverly. It was a joy to have your Mom as friend and neighbor from 1958 to 1996. I wish I could relive those great years on Francis Ave.
