Jay Scudder was born in Upland, CA on July 23, 1963, and passed away at the age of 62 in his home surrounded by family on December 11, 2025, after battling Lewy Body Dementia. Jay is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Pam Scudder; his children, whom he was so proud of: son Max Scudder and daughters Elizabeth Lally and Sydney Scudder; his daughter-in-law Taylor Scudder and son-in-law Jason Lally, who also held a special place in his heart; his beloved grandchildren Jax (4 years) and Addison (2 years) Scudder, Bodhi (4 years), Capri (2 years), and Rowen Lally, who will be born soon. He is also survived by his granddad, his father Bob, sister Susan and her husband Gilbert, and brother Steve and his wife Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Connie, in 2013, and we know she welcomed him with open arms.
Jay was proud to work at the family metal stamping business. He worked as a tool and die maker before moving into the office to work alongside his dad and mom. His son Max continues the legacy as the fourth generation of Scudder men in this industry at Vanguard Tool & Die.
Jay had a big heart and loved deeply. He was loyal to his family and friends. If you knew Jay, he called you his friend. He was gifted creatively and was an extremely talented woodworker. His love of the outdoors lent itself to his years of surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, bass fishing, playing softball, and gardening. Jay loved music of all genres and always had music on around him, even if it was too loud and drove the rest of his family crazy. His smile and laughter were contagious, and he always loved a good time.
May your memories of Jay bring a smile and warmth to your heart.
There will be a service in Jay’s memory at Stone Funeral Home on February 3, 2026 and a Celebration of Jay’s Life on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Please reach out to a family member for further details.
