

Raymond pursued his education in engineering at Holy Angel University in the Philippines. In 1980, he moved to the United States with his brother, Rick Ibanez, where he began his first job as a cook at the Marriott Hotel. His career with the California Institution for Men began in August 1992 as a correctional supervising cook. Four years later, he transitioned into his lifelong career as a correctional officer at Ironwood State Prison. In 1997, he transferred back to the California Institution for Men, where he was promoted to sergeant in 2004. Raymond served with dedication and pride for 32 years.
Raymond took great pride in his role as a sergeant, his country, and his Filipino heritage. He had a deep passion for martial arts, winning numerous awards and medals. He loved traveling the world, hosting dinners and parties for every holiday and celebration, and providing for his family.
Raymond passed away on August 28, 2024. He is survived by his two children, Raymond Francis Ibanez III and Stephanie Ibanez.
A visitation for Raymond will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stone Funeral Home, 355 East 9th Street, Upland, CA 91786. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 355 East 9th Street, Upland, CA 91786. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W G St, Ontario, California 91762.
