Katie,

I never had the pleasure of meeting Tim face to face, but we spoke when you and he purchased your home this year.  I have known your family for many, many years, and this loss grieves my heart for what you, his family, and your family have been forced to bear.

Being a sibling survivor, I understand what immediate loss feels like.  Today I share the message to always 'LOOK for your moments of joy'.   In your journey to breathe again, there will be moments of laughter amidst the tears.  NEVER feel guilty for a moment of laughter.  It is a desperate-for-air, small step in your healing process, that will eventually grow and out-shadow the grief.  You are not meant to grieve forever.  That seems impossible right now, but God promises that healing will come; your joy will return.

Psalm 30:5 was God's promise to our family 11 years ago...  'Though sorrow endures through the night, JOY comes in the morning.'  This is His promise, Katie, that it won't always hurt THIS much.  A scarred heart may never sound exactly the same as it once did, but each day it will hurt less and beat stronger.

May God carry you through this new year, and always.

Tim was a wonderful man, a good man. He went to school with my oldest son and coached my younger two. They all had only positive things to say about him from the time they met him. He always made time for my questions about jumping and running. He was so encouraging. What a blessing to have known this young man. God bless him and his family, and may the Holy Spirit comfort all of us who mourn him.
