

Edna Faye Denton Phillips, age 86, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 19, 2015. She was born the daughter of the late Forrest Denton and Anna Mae Thacker Denton on January 27, 1929 in Burke County.
Edna was a delight to be around. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening. Edna loved working in the restaurant business. She could remember names and faces of all those she met and often their life stories. Edna was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Edna is preceded in death by three brothers, Forrest “Jay” Denton, Jr., Ray Denton and John Denton.
Those left behind to cherish Edna’s memory include two sons, Eddie Denton (Carolyn) of Enola and Ron “Ronny” Swink (Lisa) of Valdese; a daughter, Sharon Swink Cain (James) of Morganton; two brothers, Jerry Denton (Loretta) of Morganton, Donald Denton (Fredia) of Hickory; four sisters, Verlie Deaton, Lela Seitz, Doris Smith (Harold) and Lucy Chapman, all of Morganton; four grandchildren, Chris Denton, Graham Peahuff, Scott Swink and Jimmy “Scooter” Piercy; six great grandchildren, Blake Peahuff, Meadow Peahuff, Eli Grey Peahuff, Savannah Swink, Hana Piercy and Matthew Piercy; and a special friend who was like a son, Leonard Brown of Morganton. Edna is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM in the small auditorium of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Enola Road in Morganton.
