Irene G. Perkins

Mrs. Perkins was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on March 26, 1934 to the late Perry and Lillian (Drum) Gurley. She was married to the late Stanley Clinton Perkins, who preceded her in death in 2002. She was a homemaker who loved to spend time with her family and will be greatly missed by friends and loved ones.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Clinton Perkins; a daughter, Roma Perkins Smith; a brother, Bud Gurley; and two sisters, Jean Perkins and Catherine Clayton.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Keith Perkins of Vale, NC, and Michael Lee Perkins and wife Joyce of Morganton; a sister, Helen Perkins of Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren, Brandon Ashley Daniels, Brandon Perkins, Brian Perkins, Nicole Perkins, Michael Lee Perkins, Jr., Elizabeth Perkins, Thomas Franklin, Heath Moore, Julian Hudson, Shane Moses, Talina Saine, and Dale Smith; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses be made to Valdese Family Funeral Care and Perfect Peace Cremations, 205 Morgan Street SE, Valdese, NC 28690.
