Albert W. “Mac” McElroy, 86, of Alma, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 in Fort Smith. He was born July 25, 1933 in Branch, AR to the late Albert and Ida McElroy. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, was a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic, and retired from J.A. Riggs Tractor Co. in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ray McElroy.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta McElroy of the home; four daughters, Terri Stagno (Ron) of Bakersfield, CA, Sherri Owen of Las Vegas, Patricia Rodgers of Florissant, CO, and Ida Lewis (Teddie) of Alma; three sons, Charles Stevens of Las Vegas, Larry Stevens (Liz) of Albany, OR, and Michael Stevens (Cindy) of Ratcliff, AR; a sister, Sylvia Kuykendall (Jim) of Etna, OK; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Pallbearers will be Michael Stevens, Kyle Hankins, Teddie Lewis, Mike Wilson, Doug Harlan, and James Cameron.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
