Dan “Doc” Stilwell, 65, of Dyer, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015. He was born April 23, 1950 in Tulsa, OK. He was the Chief of Police for the City of Dyer. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces during the Vietnam Conflict and received a Purple Heart, and the Medal of Heroism.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Stilwell of the home; four daughters, Gloria Dake of Foyil, OK, Lacy Middleton of Dyer, Jennifer Madison of Tulsa, and Ashley Rice of Fort Smith; three sons, Christopher Middleton of Dyer, David Rice of Ardmore, and Joseph Rice of Tulsa; his father, Gene Stilwell of Fort Smith, and his biological father, Bill Stilwell; three brothers, Billy Stilwell and Donnie Stilwell of Fort Smith, and Jim Stilwell of Bokoshe; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 10:00 Friday, June 12, 2015 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will greet friends in the Chapel foyer immediately following the service.
