

Edith Mae Rice Mayo, 96, of Van Buren, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in Van Buren. She was born January 30, 1922 in Palo Pinto County, TX to the late Walter and Sarah Cofer. She was the owner/operator of Cedarville Grocery, and Natural Dam Café, and a farmer. She was a woman of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Rice; a daughter, Mary Sallee; two sisters, Lois Ann Monzingo, and Ellen Cofer; three brothers, Mack, Bill, and Mel Roy Cofer; two grandchildren, Roger Isaacs and Miyo Watanabe; and a daughter-in-law, Susie Rice.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Nivens and husband Clyde of Grandview, TX; three sons, James Rice and wife Yoko of North Las Vegas, NV, Clinton Rice of Sallisaw, and Lanny Rice and wife Kathy of Springdale; a brother, Debs Cofer and wife Marsha of Houston; nine grandchildren, Mike Isaacs, Steve Nivens, Troy Nivens, Laura Luna, Erin Knapp, Josh Rice, Jake Rice, Whitney Hall, and Hannah Trumbo; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
