George Stone, 70, of Mountainburg, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at his home. He was born September 20, 1947 in Cotulla, TX. He was a truck driver, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his father, David A. Stone, Sr., stepfather, Larned Runnels, and a stepbrother, Larned “Chip” Runnels.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Stone of the home; a daughter, Tammy Edwards of Mountainburg; two sons, Rusty Stone of Eureka Springs, and Michael Mason of Mountainburg; his mother, Celia Runnels of San Antonio; three sisters, Kathleen Barger of Lampasas, TX, Jeanette Stone of Danville, KY, and Gwyneth Lane of Mannford, OK; three brothers, David A. Stone, Jr. of San Antonio, Roy Stone of Floresville, TX, and Joe Stone of Austin, TX; a stepbrother, Michael Runnels of Glen Gardner, NJ; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Stone family home in Mountainburg.
