Robert Nelson Smith

Robert Nelson Smith, 60, of Fort Smith, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home. He was born August 29, 1956 in Harford County, Maryland. He was a steelworker, and served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Smith, and a sister, Suzan Babcock.

He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Phelan of Barling; two sons, Tim Smith of Alma, and Kevin Smith of Barling; his mother, Corlene Smith of Mulberry; a sister, Lora Graves of Waldron; a brother, Scott Smith of Mulberry; four grandchildren; three nieces, Samantha, Manda, and Jaccilyn; and two nephews, Zac and Caleb.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Woody Memorial Cemetery in Rudy, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Smith, Tim Smith, Meyer Rosenzweig, Matt Phelan, Scott Smith, David Stallings, and Eugene Fisher. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerdau employees, and his grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
