Virginia Nell Maxey

Virginia Nell Hunt Maxey, 91, of Van Buren, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at her home. She was born October 2, 1933 in Vanoss, OK to the late Ezra and Nettie (Byers) Hunt. She was retired from Blue Bell in Seminole, OK. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was a member of Cedar Church of Christ, and loved to quilt and embroider.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleddy Gene Maxey; a son, Bobby Moon; sisters, Vera Hunt Bratcher, Thelma Hunt Lehman, Lavelle Hunt Wallis, Marjorie Hunt Vandergriff, Sadie Hunt Daniels, and Jean Hunt George; and brothers, Floyd Hunt, Marvin Hunt, and Kenneth Hunt.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeannie Stem and husband Darryl of Van Buren, and Billie Sue Maxey of Red Oak, OK; a sister, June Hunt McCann of Ada, OK; a brother, Dave Hunt and wife Joanne of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren, Machelle Fogo and husband Mike of Charleston, Kristyl Rios and husband Philip of Texas City, TX, Kristi Jernigan of Sulphur, LA, Ricky Williams of Bowlegs, OK, Rusty Williams and wife Starla of Texas, Colby Carpenter and wife Azaleah of Wilburton, OK, Bobby Jason Moon of Ada, OK; great-grandchildren, Kailey Fogo Young and husband Connor, Michael Fogo and wife Kelsey, Kaitlyn Fogo, Joseph Jernigan, Landen Swire, Makana Jernigan, Trenton Dean, Justin Rios, Tayler Rios, Harrison Rios, Bradley Moon, Shalom Carpenter, Benyamin Carpenter, Aiden Williams, and Cooper Williams; a great-great-granddaughter, Evelyn Young; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2025 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Committal will be 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Cemetery in Red Oak, OK, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.

Pallbearers will be Michael Fogo, Joseph Jernigan, Landen Swire, Trenton Dean, Justin Rios, and Colby Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Darryl Stem, Mike Fogo, and Philip Rios.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren, AR.
