I miss the good old time when I'll go to sleep over and the next day we'll go to the movies or six flags. We would always take the bus to the movies and you'll always have the Miami heats hat and tell me that the lakers sucks. Now how ironic it is that you go for them hahaha just because lebron joined the lakers. I will miss you Ivan, I wanted to continue getting new memories of us hanging out, you were such an awesome person, you were funny, outgoing, and always striving for your goal. Thank you for being my best friend and a brother to me. I also wanna give thanks to your sister jessy and your parents for being great people and loving you always. Lol every time your sister would come into your room you would always scream at her and tell her to get out. But there was always love between you guys. You would take care of her and she would take care of you. Thank you jessy.

C.I.D.L Para Siempre
There are moments in time when you meet  certain individuals who have a special gift, don’t get me wrong; everyone is special, it’s true, but there are certain individuals who have that extra little God given sprinkle of love that separates them from the rest. This young man Ivan, the name i knew who him by, was one of those people. On my first encounter with this special being, I saw a kid who was just looking to get the most of out of life, simply put, wanted to find the joy of just living without any concern or limitations. I saw a kid who wanted to test the many obstacles of life on his own, so he could create the outcome he desired. I saw a stubbornness and eagerness to draw out any information for himself, so that he could utIlize it in a way that could benefit what he believed in and one day benefit others. The kid had fight in him, he had no fear to get up and go conquer what he felt needed conquering. That fight is something I got to see first hand, when i heard him sing, it was a captivating sight, his bravery and commitment to try, give it his all and really makes his dream come to fruition, I appreciated that about him. Having simple conversations with him, I could tell you, I believed what he would say. I would sometimes think to myself, this kid is out of his mind but i felt in his heart, that he was speaking his truth. Not only that, he would go out and do it. That’s what made Ivan different from the rest, he was destined for something spectacular, it was astonishing to me! It was truly captivating, i could only be fascinated with what i was seeing. It was beautiful.

I’ll miss talking trash about his favorite athlete LeBron, and how we would debate between LeBron and Kobe and who was superior, this conversation always riled him and I up to our most competitive junctures. I’m glad that we were able to at least cheer for our Lakers, though he was a fan of every team LeBron went to, and yes he did talk smack about my Lakers at one point, which I find funny, still brings a smile to my face as I write this. I’ll miss talking about who would win in a one on one basketball contest, saddens that we never got to fulfill that challenge, I was older now so I’d probably, no maybe give Mr. Ivan Diaz a leg up on me, but in his fire and spirit, I could tell he was going to be a tough cookie to beat. Another memory I have to take with me is when, my oldest boy Anthony had basketball practice, and he went with us to go watch his nephew play, he was so excited and proud to watch him, but then him and I got into playing H.O.R.S.E a friendly game which morphed into a heated three point contest, we traded shots back and forth and we ended up tying, annoying to this day but was so much fun. I admired his competitive edge and feistiness, at anything and everything. I could see so much of him and his character through competition and sports.

I’ll miss how cool he was to my 2 bambinos, Anthony and Xander. He loved to be with them, loved to play, hug and kiss them. He would love to pick on and play with Anthony, challenged him at video games and taught him little tricks of the trade of basketball. He loved to toss Xander up in the air and hear him laugh, or play little scrappy games with him to make his little nephew tough. He loved being around his mom and dad, always cracking jokes and teasing them, but he always loved, respected and appreciated them and remembered to say thank you. He adored his big sister Jessica, their bond was most beautiful because you could see brotherhood, protection of each other, guidance, support, love, admiration and trust. Thats what he was about after all, it was clearly present his love and passion for family.

Ivan, you will be missed my cuñis. Thank you for shining your light on us, thank you for enlightening us, thank you for making us laugh, for the memories, the food (loved to eat, that guy), thank you for being you and thank you for showing us that it’s ok to be yourself and to not hide who you are. Here’s what truly inspired me about me about Ivan, he always acknowledged and appreciated you by saying Thank You. You’re a beautiful, humble soul forever and ever. I was fortunate to catch a glimpse of a funny, curious kid turn into a proud and loving young man. I’m honored to have called you family. Keep eyes on our loved ones from above, I know you’re our forever angel. I look forward to the infinite time we all get reunite. Paradise rests with You! God Speed, I Love You Bro! -C.P.
