It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Hamanishi, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many. Predeceased by her husband, Terry, she is survived by her two sons, Curtis (Hiroko and her son Yuta) and Gordie. She also leaves behind her siblings, Judy (Steve), Dan (June), and Jenny (Bob), as well as her nephews and niece, Bobby (Louise), Brent (Jodi). Additionally, she is survived by her grand-nephews, Brodie, Jett, and Wyatt.
Nancy's passions were numerous, with her family being foremost among them. She was an enthusiastic and talented cook, known for preparing a traditional Japanese feast each New Year, a celebration cherished by her immediate family and abundant lifelong friends.
She loved music and continued to dance until only a few months ago. Even more recently, she maintained her commitment to work by rising at 6:00 am to commute downtown by transit. When not commuting, she worked from her home office dedicated to her team at Transport Canada.
Nancy embraced and lived life to the fullest.
Those who knew her admired her gentle kindness, boundless energy, and positivity, along with her radiant smile and keen sense of humor. She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family request that in lieu of flowers or koden, please consider donations to the Vancouver Buddhist Temple or to a charity of your choice.
A memorial service for Nancy will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, 11:00 am at Vancouver Buddhist Temple, 220 Jackson Avenue, Vancouver, BC.
