She leaves behind her older brother Ron Dyck; younger brother Brian Dyck (Trish); niece Julie Dyck (Hilary); nephew Greg Dyck (Lisa); niece Harmony Dyck (Bud); and her beloved great-nieces Lauren and Addison.
Carol was predeceased by her husband Lorne, son Darren, parents Jake and Norma, nephew Bradley, and sister-in-law Shari.
Born in Altona Manitoba, Carol moved to Burnaby BC at a young age and would call it home for nearly all of her 82 years, building a life rich with friendships, family, and community.
She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at BC's Children’s Hospital, where she built many lasting friendships that continued well into her retirement years.
Outside of work, Carol was an active member of the Burnaby Bowling League, enjoyed trips to Wendover to play the slots, and loved driving her convertible Mustang. She proudly claimed to have read every James Patterson novel — probably twice.
Carol’s competitive spirit and skill were evident in the impressive trophy collection she earned during her years with the Vancouver Rod & Gun Club. She also cherished the many occasions spent with family on Vancouver Island, especially in the Comox Valley and at Sproat Lake.
Those fortunate enough to know Carol will forever remember her unique laugh, beautiful smile, sharp wit, and fierce integrity. A true testament to her loyalty was her treasured friendship of almost 80 years with Andrea Horne. Carol was an intelligent, strong, and fiercely independent woman who inspired those around her and will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
In keeping with Carol’s wishes, there will be no service.
