December 31, 1935 – August 7, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Chum Ho Linda Eng. Linda was born on December 31,1935, in Canton, Hoi Ping, China, and passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 89. She will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 66 years, Yuen Ken Eng; daughters Nancy, Kim (Ron, spouse), Carol, Dora (Victor, spouse) and grandson Ethan, and Jennifer (Tracy, spouse); along with extended family and many treasured friends.
Linda was a woman of strength and warmth, admired for her vibrant spirit, graceful style, and the deep love she held for her family. She dedicated countless hours working alongside her husband in their family-owned grocery store.
She was known for her deep appreciation of the arts, especially her love of singing along to Chinese opera and Cantonese pop music, which she did with both passion and pride. Her love for movement and music shone through her joy in dancing and practicing Tai Chi in Central Park—where she built lasting friendships—and her days were often brightened by the lively click of Mahjong tiles and the warm company of friends.
Linda found peace and happiness in her garden, where she lovingly tended to her roses, dahlias and peonies — each bloom a reflection of her nurturing heart. She was also a proud and active member of the Hoi Ping Benevolent Society of Canada, where she joined other women in practicing Chinese cultural traditions through crafts, performing arts and food.
Linda lived a life full of resilience, love, and grace, and will be remembered for her strength, kindness, radiant smile, and timeless elegance. Her family will forever carry her love, traditions, and wisdom in their hearts.
