Gone but never forgotten. RIP beloved brother 🙏

Daniel was an excellent and skillful physician, with an inherent and natural talent for healing, enhanced by great learning and experience. He had a unique presence and passion for his life and work and is remembered and  greatly appreciated as a colleague, teacher & clinical leader. He was never afraid of new beginnings, taking life by the horns and engaging fearlessly.  He was also very much a great friend and is missed by myself and who knew and worked with him.

Our world tilted today never to return to the correct access as my beloved older brother Daniel Bester died today and we all feel so bereft.   He had the hugest heart that matched his enormous smile and generous caring nature. Discussing with grieving family all over the world we have learnt how he has special connection and phoned many members of the family catching up with them often. One always felt safe and reassured when he was around. Utterly charming and devastatingly good looking with a brain as sharp as a razor , this was a lethal match. He crept into so many heArts and was  excellent doctor who saved so many lives. 
Our world will feel so much smaller without his huge presence and we made miss him eternally. He will never be forgotten and we will follow the family lessons and outreaching to each other’s that he cared so much about RIP my darling brother and go to your well served rest.  Till we meet again ❤️❤️🙏

We were shocked and saddened to hear of Dr.Bester's passing; heaven has certainly gained an amazing soul and our thoughts and prayers are with Jenny and family. We met Dr. Bester when he landed way, way, way up north in Fort Chipewyan to provide physician services. We will never forget his sense of humour and dedication to the medical care of the community. He was a great mentor, teacher and friend, and always had an interesting story to share with us. He wasn't afraid to take on the unique situations that would present in the north, such as suturing up the occasional dog or navigating the winter road. He frequently spoke proudly of his family and was a dedicated family man. Dr. Bester will truly be missed and always in our thoughts.

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Bester.  I had the honour of working for him at his clinic in Manning for a few years. Not only was he my employer, but he was a friend. He was a very respected physician in Northern Alberta,  and will be most certainly missed by all who knew him. My sincerest condolences to Jenny and their family.  May your fond family memories get you through this very difficult time.

What can I say about this man? It was my pleasure to work with him over the course of his years of practice in Cardston. We had many great conversations about living life, and enjoying the time that all of us are given. I was always decidedly impressed about his ability to conduct himself and his practice of medicine, especially in the ER. We worked many times together, and I would often greet him early in the morning while he was in the Dr's lounge, saying something like 'If it isn't the melodious voice of Dr. Bester!' He was one of my all time favorite docs to tease, as he would give it right back to me :) I enjoyed our comradery more than words can speak to, and I will treasure those memories. He thoroughly enjoyed being a doctor - that was very obvious. I will miss him immensely, as a colleague and as a friend. My thoughts are with Jenny and his children.

My thoughts are with the family, I'm sorry for your loss.  I first meet Daniel in 1990.  In all the years knowing Daniel I never meet anyone with a better work attitude.   I can remember having a meeting with him at the hospital, he asked me to wait in a room with a bed and in his cheerful voice said, "have a nap if you need one, I'll be a few minutes," and this was already 10:30 pm.  We finished at 1:00 am that night, and Daniel was going to go all night.  Over the years we had many laughs and the odd beer.  To the family, your Dad was always so proud of all three of you, Nick, Daniel and Victoria.  He would start every meeting by filling me in on how well you three were doing, he was a very proud Dad. And Jennifer you were his back bone, he would always say, if it wasn't for Jenny I I would be lost.  Daniel loved his family and he will be missed by many.  Rest in peace Daniel.

I first met Dr. Bester and his family at the Cardston Super 8 Motel.  He was staying there with his family while working at the Cardston Hospital.  He had a couple of boys and a newly adopted daughter and I was the manager.  In the beginning... I took after hour calls and transferred them to him.  

Over the last twenty years ...  I would meet Dr. Bester many times in the ER at the Cardston Hospital.   He would take out my kid's tonsils, he set broken bones, swabbed throats, checked ears...  

In December 2005 I was pregnant and bleeding.  Dr. Bester did everything he could to save my boy.     He would later take out Jacks's tonsils.    I reminded him of that scary night in December that he saved my Jack.  

Later I would be my several depressed and suicidal daughter to see him on several occasions.  He was always loving, kind, and a favorite doctor.  

My daughter who struggled with mental health was married on August 1, 2020.  I would later find out that day about Dr. Bester's passing.

I loved to chat with Dr. Bester about our shared favorite hobby - Porsche's!  My dad had given me 1968, 911 and Dr. Bester wanted to write me a check that day and buy it!

Dr. Bester was an outstanding doctor.  I loved to watch him in the FULL ER!  He was in his glory. 

Dr. Daniel Bester was a treasure to the Cardston Hospital and to our town.
