David Meek lived 57 amazing years making things happen, playing by his own rules and believed in humanity like no one else. He lived an exemplary life as a person you could always count on and many did.
This generous and kind soul is missed by all of us. Loved by: his wife Sim; his sons Ethan and Liam; and furry friend, Hobbes. His siblings, Margaret with John, Sandra, Brian with Ruby, Steve with Terri, Jackie with Rick. Nieces and nephews, Roger, Barry, Courtney, Tyson, Cindy, Rachel, Alisha, Scott, Shelley. The Lee Family and all their extended relatives as well.
He grew up in Hamilton, Ontario spending hours upon hours exploring King’s Forest and the Niagara escarpment. He was an outdoors adventurer and passionate explorer of our world by air, land and sea. There were never enough hours in the day. David savoured the sunrise and danced in the glow of the moon.
His fearless spirit and love of life lives on in the hearts of many. As a larger than life Father, he proudly nurtured two children to continue his legacy of caring and compassion. His unforgettable sense of humor and knack for story telling will be sorely missed. David was the Rugby Dad, the Judo Dad, the Cadet Dad, the Jiu jitsu Dad, the Boating Dad, the Homework Dad – the Best Dad!
He was a true family man that was also very dedicated to his work. David was a Red Seal carpenter that very rarely put down his tools. As a master tradesman, he built custom homes on the West Side and skyscrapers in False Creek, downtown Vancouver and the North Shore. Later, an accomplished Project Coordinator, he devoted 22 years to the University of British Columbia.
David is loved and is missed every second of the day.
