At age 84, Dolores succumbed to pneumonia at Vancouver General Hospital on October 19, 2023. She was born on March 31, 1939in Pagsanjan Laguna, Philippines. She is the third of 8 children of Anacleto and Emiteria Opelanio.
Dolores was never afraid of working to support her family. She was always a businesswoman in the Philippines where she owned a general store and was involved in buying and selling real estate properties. In 1990s, she migrated to Vancouver, Canada where she worked as a caregiver, a babysitter and a hotel housekeeping staff.
Dolores is survived by her four children with her late first husband Macario Sacluti: Isagani, Editha, George, and Carlito, by her two children with her second late husband Loreto Santos: Loretta and Lawrence, and her siblings Dionisio, Librada, Aurea, and Laura.
She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren: Jay, Anna, Sharolyn, Elaine, Zarah, Christian, Jovie, Levi, Jean Caira and Jhon Carlo, her 12 great grandchildren: Janna, James, Robin, Lana, Katherine, Kaitlyn, Patricia Mae, Patrick, Precious, Cyrus, Yang Yang and Lucas, and her two great great grandchildren: Ryle and Reid.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents Anacleto and EmiteriaOpelanio, her siblings Victoria, Bartolome, and Rufina, and her husband William (Bill) Palmer.
The Novena Prayer for Dolores began on October 19, 2023 and she will be cremated on November 2023. Her cremains will be inurned beside the tomb of her husband William (Bill) Palmer at Forest Lawn Memorial Patk
A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC V5W2Z1. A reception will occur Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 5390 Fraser Street, Vancouver, BC V5W2Z1.
